The Entrepreneurial Mindset I

Tuesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Facilitator - Dr. Fiyah Oates, Transcendent Life Coaching Institute 

This course will cover the fundamental steps to starting a business. Topics that will be covered include naming, branding, incorporating, business license, insurance, and more.  New and existing business are encouraged to register and establish a firm foundation for entrepreneurial success!

Financial Literacy - During the Holidays and Beyond

This mini-course series is designed to help you prepare, manage, and understand your finances as you head into the holiday season. Learn ways to build credit, create and utilize a budget, and set achievable goals to finance your future.

Graphic Designer

Graphic Design Essentials 101

Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Facilitator – Rhonda Brown – Graphic Designer-Rhonda’s Office

This interactive beginner’s course will examine multiple visual communications principles, terminology, and elements of a good design, including color theory, composition, typography and more. We will review “Canva” a graphic design platform used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, and other visual content.  A desktop or laptop computer is highly recommended.

Anger Management Tools

Wednesdays, 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon 

Facilitator: Dr. Jerome Maultsby, Ignite the Power Within, LLC

Through this course, Parent Learners will gain a better understanding of anger, the stages of anger, and how anger affects those around you. Strategies to gain control and manage anger better in all situations will also be discussed and practiced through interactive role-playing and scenarios.

This course will explain the concept of the American Food System and the relationship between food and health.  Parent Learners will understand the importance of a whole food plant-based diet and be introduced to the concept of growing seasonal organic foods and herbs on a budget.

Hope Through the Holidays: Overcoming Grief, Loss, and Loneliness

Grief is the conflicting group of human emotions caused by an end to or change in the familiar. Active grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves ebbing and flowing. Over the course of four weeks, you will learn how to emotionally swim.

Parenting Circle

Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM 

Facilitator: Chris Latson

 

The Parenting Circle is designed to address the unique challenges of parenting. Parent Learners will develop strategies to improve their communication skills with their child(ren), techniques to encourage positive behavior, and activities to help strengthen their bond. The ten pillars of A New Way Forward, an evidence-based curriculum will be used as the backdrop to facilitate engaging dialogue along with an active parenting curriculum.

Poetry Circle w/ Dimitri Reyes

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00PM -7:00PM

Facilitator: Dimitri Reyes

 

In this engaging and supportive workshop, multidisciplinary artist, Dimitri Reyes will present poetry of various styles in each class and encourage participants to write work inspired by the topic of the day.  This class is made for everyone, whether you've written poems before or are attempting to write one for the first time.
